 Bloodbank Refrigeration

Cold Science Technology

Cold Science Technology Lec's outstanding range of Bloodbank refrigerators are manufactured to exacting standards and designed for use in small, medium and large blood centres, hospitals, nursing homes, laboratories and operating theatres. The models shown in this leaflet have capacities from 36 to 528 bags. Particular attention has been paid to the operating and control system of the Bloodbanks in order to meet and exceed today's exacting standards. Lec is able to meet these as a result of experience within this sector and the utilisation of modern technology.

Control functions are:

  • Bloodbank internal temperature check
  • evaporator temperature check in the defrosting phase
  • control panel push button check

Dependant on the set data, the system controls the following:

  • requested temperature regulation
  • high/low temperature alarm system regulation, independant from the control system
  • regulation of the automatic defrosting system

All the operating functions are performed by power relays which are microprocessor controlled. The system also has remote alarm terminals, for the option of connection to a central alarm monitoring station or an auxiliary alarming station. An optional battery can be supplied to power the alarm in the event of power failure.

Temperature Range

All Lec blood cabinets have a working temperature of +4°C. This temperature can be fully adjusted by the user to between 0°C and +10°C

Doors

The use of anodised aluminium in conjunction with high-strength glass ensures that all the bloodbank doors in our range are highly durable. Electric heaters have been built into the doors to prevent frost formation. The door have chromate alloy handles encased in plastic for hygienic easy cleaning. Finally, all doors are fully lockable for safe storage.

Drawers

The bloodbank has stainless steel drawers which the blood bags are stored upon. The drawers have been designed to allow for proper air circulation within the cabinet interior. The drawers are easy to manoeuvre with stainless steel sliding glides and plastic wheels. The front panel of the drawers is in plexiglass to allow immediate view of the content of the drawers and to avoid warm air coming inside while the door is opened. Additionally, there are special label holders installed for the user to specify the drawer content and easy stock management.

Cooling System

The cooling system has been designed to ensure that the compressor is as quiet as possible to preserve optimum working conditions. A fan-blown cooling evaporator coil has been used for more efficient cooling. The cooling system is completely sealed within the lower part of the compact models and located in the upper part for an other models.

Internal Lighting

Fluorescent light with front panel switch.
